thankyou for sharing.
keep these life stories coming guys.
tell us a little about yourself and your family.. i was born and raised in southern california, with a brief stint with parents as need-greaters in central america.
my parents accepted a study in the d2d work, i believe my father was interested in the revolutionary aspect of the religion, and my mom said she wanted to learn the bible.
they were baptized in 1937 i think, and attended the one and only los angeles kh at the time.
thankyou for sharing.
keep these life stories coming guys.
they raised my two younger brothers and me in the “truth”, and convinced some of their own siblings to join as well.
i married pretty early, raised two of my own in the “truth”, sad to say.
my parents are still in.
good read. this family shunning is really hateful. not seen or spoken to my youngest son for over 30 years now.
tell us a little about yourself and your family.
my mother introduced me to her jw world when i was 12. i had to attend the weekly book study....boring!!!!
plus the disney tv show was on tuesday eve 8 to 9 and once a month they did a space show......no matter how hard i tried couldn’t get out of that bk study.
good read Gio--thanks for writing it.
me too, i had to have a study with a jw.
then, a month or two later, another one of my ‘worldly’ mates (dan) asked me “are you going out with emma?” i told him no.
dan had also asked rob himself and rob had said that he wasn’t involved with emma.
good read LUHE--thanks for taking the time.
i consider myself an atheist.
and right now i'm reading a lot on atheism in general (books written to answer creationists).. i'd be interested in knowing how you became an atheist after leaving the jws and how long did it take?
was it instant or did your belief in a deity gradually decline?.
i left the watchtower cult because i was--and still am--an atheist. i never believed in god--couldnt care less about what it might say in the bible. was a teenage pioneer just to please other people. took me till i was 23 to be honest to myself.
i have just received an email from an elder's wife regarding the new data protection laws.
between the lines it sounds like she has been asked to contact me.. she says they 'don't want to leave me out' so they want me to fill out the form as 'i'm still part of the congregation'.
also, my blood card needs updating, apparently.. the elder in charge will be in contact.. obviously, i'm not doing either, but what do i do?
just ignore it.
youre not still part of the congregation.
they will get the message eventually.
willoughby assembly hall.
1400+ attendance 5 baptised a robust 0.38 growth!.
$11k expenses however 1st.
and how many dippers were kids ?
are they the most boring people on earth?
their music, their videos, their public speaking... all are a big yawn.
there is no life to the witness religion!.
Leaving
when i saw simons thread and the "interview" series of threads that came from it i really enjoyed reading the life stories of those that shared.
a bump for newer people seems like a good idea and i figured i would add mine as well.
again, thanks to simon for the concept of a guided interview thread and the template.. tell us a little about yourself and your family.. hmmm... easy question, hard answer.
Hey Morph...you forgot to mention you used to be elderelite on here previously.
Good read though.
